Himalayan vs Classic 350 vs Xpulse
By
You can ride Ladakh on almost any bike. You should ride it on one of three.
TL;DR
- RE Himalayan 450 — best overall. Made for this exact terrain.
- RE Classic 350 — works fine. Heavier, less suspension, bulletproof reliable.
- Hero Xpulse 200 4V — best for solo light riders who want off-road fun. Underpowered two-up.

RE Himalayan 450
The right answer if available. Long-travel suspension, 21″ front wheel, ground clearance for water crossings, enough power for two-up climbs to 5,000m. Tall seat (~825mm). Pick if: 5’7″+ confident, first or second Ladakh trip, want the right tool.
RE Classic 350
Strong second choice. Parts in every village. Three decades of mechanics know it. Smooth single-cylinder thump satisfying on long days. Pick if: Himalayans sold out, value reliability over capability.
Hero Xpulse 200 4V
Lightest. Real off-road geometry. Fun on Spiti trails. 19hp at altitude with passenger is genuinely slow. Pick if: solo light rider, want off-road sections, comfortable 6–7 hours not 9.
Bikes to avoid: anything below 200cc, sports bikes, cruisers without ground clearance, KTM Duke (geometry wrong).
